I am looking forward to the beginning of the new school year! My name is Ann Renee Pires. I was born and raised in Richmond, CA. I am a product of Catholic schools. I attended St. David School in Richmond, Presentation High School in Berkeley, (now closed), and various colleges. I have a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Cal State Hayward (now known as Cal State East Bay), a Multiple Subject Credential from Holy Names University in Oakland, and both a Reading Specialist Credential and Administration Credential from St. Mary's College in Moraga. Except for a short six-month stint in a public school in Oakland, my entire teaching career has been in catholic schools in the Oakland Diocese. My preference is to teach in a catholic school because I want to share my faith with others. I have taught first, second, fifth, and seventh-grade homeroom during my career and substituted in all grades K through 8 at one time or another. I was the principal of St. David School for eight years until deciding to return to teaching. Besides spoiling my nieces and nephews, I enjoy reading, camping, hiking, exploring beaches, taking long drives, and solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
